Freddy the PigFreddy is the title character of the series, although he doesn't really come into his own as the central character until the third book, Freddy the Detective. Freddy has been described as a Rennassance pig - the only one of his kind. Freddy is a detective, a bank manager, a cowboy, a playwright - through the series Freddy tries his hand at everything. Freddy makes his home in the pigpen on the Bean Farm. The windows of his home are filthy, and despite many offers from his friends to wash them, he prefers his view of the world to be distorted (it further encourages his imagination!) Being such a very creative pig, Freddy thinks a lot. It is a common thing to find Freddy thinking - his eyes closed and a snoring noise coming from his general vicinity. His adventures have gained him numerous friends, but at the Bean Farm, Freddy's closest friend would probably be Jinx the Cat, followed by Mrs. Wiggins (a cow). Mr. and Mrs. Bean, the wealthy Mr. Camphor and Centerboro's Sherrif are also central characters in Freddy's life. Freddy's adventures make him many friends, but his long nose also brings him into conflict with some less-than-nice characters Simon the Rat and Mr. Herb Garble to name just two).
